Student Welfare
At St Albans Tutors, what sets us apart is the attitude towards students. Whilst we aim to provide a close relationship between staff, students and parents throughout their time here, students are treated as young adults in charge of their own education. To that end, there is no uniform and students are first name terms with tutors. This level of responsibility emphasises a mature approach to their studies.
This is complemented, however by strictly enforced guidelines to ensure that they achieve their full potential in their chosen course.
Reports
Regular contact with parents is actively encouraged and written reports are sent to parents during the autumn and spring terms.
We encourage parents who wish to discuss other issues with us to phone and make an appointment. Support both at home and at college is essential in helping achieve a student's full potential.
Regular Tests and Mock Examinations
Full mock examinations are held in the spring term where students are given the opportunity to gain formal practice under examination conditions. In addition, students are given focused help on exam technique and practice with regular practice of past papers, taken under exam conditions.
Pastoral Care
We monitor the progress and general welfare of each student during their time with us. Regular support meetings are offered, which can provide an opportunity to explore academic, and any personal issues in greater depth.
Careers Advice
Both the Principal and Vice Principal set aside several times each week to give careers advice and to monitor progress of each student. Help is always given with UCAS applications and work experience or 'shadowing' can be arranged in certain fields. We place considerable emphasis on helping students with their careers; an area which is important for motivation and yet one which is sometimes neglected in schools.
