Introduction

The College

St Albans Tutors was founded in 1988, with the aim of providing closer attention to the needs of individual students, which can sometimes be lacking in larger institutions. Through a process of continual development, St Albans Tutors is a now a well established, fully coeducational sixth form college which specialises in teaching a wide range of A-level and GCSE courses.

Our members of staff are highly qualified and experienced teachers, many of whom are either current or former examiners. We aim to help each student fulfil their highest academic potential in a friendly and supportive environment.

The intake of the college is deliberately limited so that every student is assured of personal attention. Our teachers direct and encourage students, and monitor their progress with regular homework and exam practice. Discipline with regard to attendance and work is rigorous, but there are few other constraints or rules.

Our Ethos

St Albans Tutors aims to provide every student with focussed attention and tailored support in an informal and friendly atmosphere which emphasises individual study,
in order to engender a mature and independent approach
to learning.

Our Approach

Students are taught in small informal groups, where class size rarely exceeds seven students per group. Each course is designed to help students make the most of their abilities by consolidating their knowledge, improving examination technique and most importantly by building confidence.

Each student’s academic progress is carefully monitored through close contact between tutors, pastoral staff, and the students themselves. Regular tests and examination questions form an integral part of all our courses.
